As you approach this summer season and make those vacation plans, be sure to stop and think about protecting your home.  Did you know a burglar could gain entry into a home in a matter of seconds?

Here are a few tips that can give you peace of mind.

• Make it look like somebody is home, leave a radio or television tuned into an all-news or talk-show, install timers on interior lights
• Brighten the outside of your home by installing exterior lights controlled by motion sensors
• Stop newspaper and mail delivery
• Ask a friend or neighbor to keep an eye on your property
• If you home is equipped with a monitored alarm system, inform the alarm company of your travel schedule
• If you are going to be gone for an extended time, make arrangements with a friend or lawn service to mow your lawn.  An untidy lawn is a sure giveaway that the house is vacant
